Successes
Edgar Herrera is proud to be deaf and enjoys supporting the Deaf Community. He was the President of Massachusetts State Association for the Deaf for four years and has been involved on the Board of Directors for eight years. He is also on the Board of Directors of the Comprehensive School-Age Parenting Program, works part time at a deaf group home, and is active in deaf athletic teams.
Challenges
Edgar’s biggest challenge is to continue to work hard to establish new laws that support the Deaf Community. He plans to finish college and earn a degree in Business Administration.
Advice to Horace Mann Students
"Use older people in the Deaf Community as role models. Set goals and work to achieve them. Remember that Deaf people can do anything. Stay motivated. You can be a doctor, a lawyer anything you want. You can be successful!"
