Successes

Some of Heidi's successes include helping D.E.A.F., Inc. to be a strong agency with program created by people who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing; working with community members, staff, and board members to bring new services to four satellite offices in Massachusetts: being able to work with many different people and learning from their many different perspectives; being a life-long reader; earning a B.A. and M. A. college degrees: marrying her wonderful husband; and being able to help her family when they need special assistance from her.

Challenges

Heidi's challenge is to make sure everyone knows that Deaf people can accomplish many different things. Her challenge is to keep D.E.A.F., Inc. running well in order to satisfy the Deaf Community's needs.

Advice to Horace Mann Students

"Get as much information as possible so you can make informed decisions about your life. It is important to not be afraid to try new things and to have new experiences."
