Successes

Nancy is currently the President of the Bay State chapter of the Gallaudet University Alumni Association. For many years she was active in the New England Athletic Association for the Deaf; she was the secretary/treasurer for nine years. Since 1976, she has been a volunteer with the Massachusetts State Association for the Deaf where she focuses most of her attention on Deaf Community News.

Challenges

Nancy has worked hard to help American Sign Language interpreter training students to be successful. She wants them to understand not only about ASL and the right way to sign, but about Deaf Culture, too. She wants them to feel confident in their ability to work within the Deaf Community.

Advice to Horace Mann Students

"Don't just talk about working within the Deaf Community-do it! Be active members and learn from its leaders. Always do your best, do not give up, and learn from your mistakes so you don't repeat them."
