Successes

When Sharon graduated from the eighth grade, BJ Wood, the Massachusetts Commissioner for Deaf and Hard of Hearing, was the speaker who inspired her to set her goals and follow her dreams.  Sharon decided then that someday she would work at MCDHH.  After earning her Bachelor’s Degree at Gallaudet University, she has achieved her goal.

Challenges

Sharon’s biggest challenge has been to master the English language, and she considers it to be an ongoing struggle.  She continues to do everything she can to meet this challenge.

Advice to Horace Mann Students

“No matter what you want to do, you must have patience and it will happen. Finish school, never give up, and keep your dream going.  Never let people say you can’t do something when you know that you can.”
